St.-Andres , Hungarian  Saintandrise ) is a municipality in the district of Timi\u0219, in the Banat region, in the southwest of Romania.     The place is also among the German names Sanctandreas or. St.-Andreas known. S\u00e2nandrei is located 12 km north of the district capital Timi\u0219oara (Temeswar) , has a connection to the National Road DN 69, 4 km further south via the DJ 692 district road and is located on the Timi\u0219oara – Arad. S\u00e2nandrei is one of the oldest towns in the Timi\u0219 district. The place was first written in 1230 under the designation St. Andrea mentioned, archaeological finds testify to the existence of a settlement during the Neolithic period. In 1748 the first Germans were settled here, built in 1762 the Roman Catholic Church, which in 1811 received its current form after some conversions. In 1766 Frenchman was located in S\u00e2nandrei and another 42 German families in 1772. The Greek Orthodox Church was built in 1834. On June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three divides due to Trianon’s contract. The biggest, eastern part, which also included Sanktangreas, fell on Romania. In 1923 the place received the official name S\u00e2nandrei.   As a result of the Waffen-SS Agreement of May 12, 1943 between the Antonescu government and Hitler-Germany, all men-born conscripts were moved into the German army. Before the end of the war, in January 1945, the deportation of all Volksdeutsche Women between the ages of 18 and 30 and men between the ages of 16 and 45 took place for development work in the Soviet Union. The soil Reform Act of March 23, 1945, which provided for the expropriation of German farmers in Romania, withdrawn from the rural population.
