Dünen IM Department Maïné-Soroa The department is located in the landscape Manga in the southeast of the country and borders on Nigeria. It consists of the municipality of Maïné-Soroa and the rural communities Foulatari and N’guelbély. The eponymous main town of the department is Maïné-Soroa. [first] After the independence of Niger in 1960, the territory was in 32 districts ( constituencies ) divided up. One of them was the Maïné-Soroa district. [2] In 1964, an administrative reform niger divided into seven departments, the predecessors of the later regions, and 32 arrondissements, the predecessors of the later departments. In the course of this, the Maïné-Soroa district was converted into the Maïné-Soroa arrondissement, with the canton of Chétimari, part of the Maïné-Soroa district, the new arrondissement Diffa. [3] In 1998, Niger’s previous arrondissements were converted into departments, at the top of which there is a prefect appointed by the Council of Ministers. The division of the department in communities has existed since 2002. [4] Before that, it consisted of the municipal center of Maïné-Soroa and the cantons of Maïné-Soroa and Goudoumaria. [5] In 2011, Goudoumaria was dissolved as a separate department from the Maïné-Soroa department. [6] The Maïné-Soroa department has 131,664 inhabitants according to the 2012 census. [7] In the 2001 census, before the release of Goudoumaria, there were 143,397 inhabitants, 82,323 inhabitants in 1988 and 76,235 in 1977. [8] At the top of the department is a prefect (French: prefect ), which is appointed by the Minister Minister by the Council of Ministers.
