It represents the northwestern part of the Donau-Heiß-Donau channel system. The channel branches off to the left of the Danube at Bezdan (Visavis of the Croatian border town of Batina) and runs to the Eastern southeast. The most important city on the Batschka Canal Canal is Sombor (Hungarian. Zombor ), Weitera Orte Sind Bački Monoštor (Monostors) , Sivac (Sivac) , Crvenka (Cservenka) , Take care (Ball) , Vrbas (Verbas) , Srbobran (Szenttamás) , Show (Turi) . The channel is 118 km (according to previous information 108 and later 126 km [2] ) Lang, 17 m wide (about 25 m at the beginning) and has an average depth of 3 m. The gradient of only about 10 meters is overcome over 5 locks. Due to the low current, all ships and boats had to be driven up and down. Nothing is known about any modern shipping. The water quality in the canal is heavily contaminated due to numerous industrial wastes from VRBas, Kula and Crvenka, so that Baden is not allowed. The channel is considered one of the most contaminated fluid waters in Europe and is a health risk for the residents. It is estimated that around 400,000 m³ of mud is stored in the channel, which is loaded with heavy metals, petroleum dates and pathogenic bacteria. The channel therefore also provides an environmental problem for the Donau and Theiß rivers, since the sewer water gets into these two rivers. The Serbian Environment Minister Sascha Dragin signed in 2008 Memorandum of Understanding With the UNDP about a sustainable solution to the problem of stress and pollution of the large Batschka channel. This project consists of three parts, which provides for the construction of sewage allevils for the municipalities of VRBAS and Kula, a sewage treatment plant in VRBAS and the decontamination of the channel. [3] From June 1793 to 1801, the Franzenskanal was manually created by 3000 workers and, as the then largest navigable channel of the Kingdom of Hungary, was given its name after the Hungarian King Franz I. It was opened in May 1802. [4] At that time he was entirely in the Bács-Bodrog comment, which also explains his later name. Until 1918, the channel belonged to a stock corporation ( Franzenskanal steam shipping company ), which received the right to transport Romania to Vienna. In the period after 1918, the channel was named after Serbian King Peter I (канал краља петра).Because of the responsible engineer Joseph Kiss (1748–1813) the channel was also “Kišov kanal” designated.
