Schottroff was at the Georg August University in Göttingen in 1960 with Otto Weber and Ernst Wolf with work The preparation for dying: Studies on the early Reformatory death books PhD. She then became an assistant in Mainz, where she was working in 1969 The believing and the enemy world: observations on the gnostic dualism and its meaning for Paul and the Gospel of John habilitated. In 1971 she was appointed unscheduled professor in 1973, in 1973. Your calling was very controversial. The professors made their veto. As a result, those students with whom she was very popular occupied the dean’s office. The Rheinische President Joachim Beckmann described the Mainz theology as anti -Christian. The highlight was Helmut Kohl’s request in the state parliament whether the theological faculty was a red cell. In Mainz, Schottroff taught and researched as an unscheduled professor until 1986. It was a time “which she experienced as a factual ban on publication, massive discrimination and marginalization”. [first] From 1986 to 1999 she held a Chair of New Testament at the University of Kassel. From 2001 she taught at the School of Religion The University of California, Berkeley, at San Francisco in California. Her main areas of work were the social history of early Christianity, feminist theology and feminist liberation theology in Western Europe and the Jewish-Christian dialogue. During her time at the college/university of Kassel (until 1999), Luise Schottroff and Christine Schaumberger, as one of the co-initiators, shaped the feminist-exemption-theological universities in Hofgeismar (see their contributions in the readers to the feminist-exemption theological university 1987, 1989 and 1990 : Guilt and power , Patriarchatsanalyse I + II and Money makes the world go round ). She founded the “Feminist-Liberation Stimulic Archive” in Kassel and promoted researching women and women’s research at many universities considerably, as can be seen from the large number of dissertations that is supervised [2] . She wrote many articles with socio-historical-feminist priorities and, as a lecture traveler, was a pioneer of feminist-theological research at many universities. Luise Schottroff became known to a larger audience by doing Bible work and discussions together with Dorothee Sölle on the German Evangelical Church Days, with which she also published several books. After her death, she worked with Claudia Janssen. Luise Schottroff has been married to Willy Schottroff (1931–1997), professor of Bible studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, since 1961. His social -historical research and his interest in archeology influenced the Luise Schottroffs work. [3] Luise Schottroff died in a hospice in Kassel on February 8, 2015 after a long illness. [4] Luise Schottroff was honored in 1990 with the Sexau Community Prize for theology. In 2007 Luise Schottroff received the honorary doctorate of the Philipps University Marburg in the Evangelical Theology Department. This was given to her for her services to the social-historical exegesis, the Christian-Jewish dialogue and above all about feminist theology. As a publisher and translator, she participated in the Bible project in just language. [5] In 2013 she received the special prize of the Leonore-Wehkewitz Prize for her life’s work.
