Guus Meeuwis – Wikipedia
Guus Meeuwis (* 23. März 1972 in Mariahout as Gustaaf S. M. Meeuwis ) is a Dutch pop singer.
One of his biggest hits was “by Spoor (Kedeng, Kedeng)”. An English version of it (“The Holiday Express”) has spread over the animation programs of Spanish club hotels (“Mini Disco”) in recent years, the Hermes House Band made a party-compatible dance version of it. Furthermore, a German cover version of the Zipfelbuben appeared in 2006. Meuwis is under contract with the Emi Group.
After school, he studied law in Tilburg. After a romantic weekend with his girlfriend Valerie in Brügge, he wrote his first number 1 hit “Het is een Nacht” (German: “This is one night”) or “Levensecht” (literally: “life-right”). Together with a few friends, he sang the song on a student song festival in Leiden, they won this song contest, but then separated at the height of their success. A year later, a talent scout heard this song by chance and offered Meeuwis a contract. The song was then released as a single in August 1995 and sold more than 250,000 times in the Netherlands and Belgium. In the same year Meeuwis finished his studies to become singers. In 1996 Meeuwis released his second number 1 hit “Per Spoor (Kedeng, Kedeng)”. Then his first album entitled “Verbazing” came into the shop. It also became a great success. In 2000, the recordings were interrupted for his third CD because Meeuwi’s vocal cord problems had received. After an operation, the recordings were continued with a few months. His song “Brabant”, published in 2003, became so popular that it is always brought into conversation as an official anthem for the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant [first] . In April 2005 his third number 1 hit “GEEF Mij Je fear” (German: “Give me your fear”), originally written in 1982 by Udo Jürgens and Michael Kunze, was published exactly 10 years after his first number 1 -Success.
In 2006 Meeuwis received the Dutch Music Prize “Gouden Harp” and published one of the best-selling live CDs in the Netherlands and Belgium with “Live in Het Philips Stadium”. Since the same year 2006, Guus Meeuwis has been completing every year, mostly in early June, the appearances in Eindhoven, who became known under the name “Goots Met Een Zachten G”. Dutch stars are always guests, such as Rowwen Héze (2006 and 2010), Marco Borsato (2010), Golden Earring (2012), Racoon (2013) or Kane (2014). In the 8th edition of these appearances, the millioniest visitor was counted in June 2013.
His tenth studio album entitled Morning ranked 1st in 2015 in the Dutch charts.
