Rock with You »It is a song played by the American singer Michael Jackson, published at the end of 1979. It was written by Rod Temperton and produced by Quincy Jones.

Karen Carpenter was offered for the first time while working on her first solo album, but she rejected it. [ first ] He was launched on November 3, 1979 by Epic Records as the second single from the fifth solo studio album by Jackson, Off the Wall (1979). It was also the third hit number one of the 1980s, [ 2 ] A decade whose list of pop singles would soon be dominated by Jackson.

“Rock with you” was released as a second single from the fifth album by Michael Jackson. The song, written by composer Rod Temperton (member of the Heatwave Band), was one of the first singles that reached first place in the ranking of the magazine Billboard In the 1980s, in addition to being one of the last successes of the Disco Music. The song of the song shows Jackson, smiling, dressed in a brilliant suit, with a colored stroboscopic light background. The track received criticism generally positive from musical critics. J. Edward Keyes of Rolling Stone He said: “What is remarkable of ‘Rock with you’ is how discreet it is: a section of silky strings and just a guitar movement – Michael does not even hit the word ‘rock’ with such force – simply slides over it, preferring to love with a wink and a smile instead of aggression or ferocity. ” [ 8 ] Steven Hyden called her “favorite song”, and pointed out the line “Girrrrrl, when you dance, there is a magic that must be love” as being “the most purely cheerful moment that [Hyden] has heard in a pop song”. [ 9 ] AllMusic He highlighted the song on the album. [ ten ] Robert Christagau called him a “soft ballad.” [ 11 ] . It occupies the position No. 354 of the list of “The 500 best songs of all time” according to Rolling Stone, updated in 2021.

Michael first performed the song in the Destiny World Tour of The Jackson in the second stage. Interpreted the song in the Triumph Tour and Victory Tour of The Jackson. Interpreted the song on his solo tour Bad World Tour . He also interpreted the song during the HIStory World Tour , as part of the medley of Off the Wall (also with off the wall and Don’t Stop Til ‘You get Enough) in certain concerts. “Rock with you” was tested for him Dangerous World Tour , but it was not done. Jackson would have also played it for the concert series This Is It , but the shows were canceled due to their sudden death.

  • Original LP version – 3:39: This “classic” version was only launched in the initial runs of the LP disc and the cassette, as well as in certain editions of CD manufactured in Japan, to and including a version for the Japanese market launched in 1991.   • LIVE 1988 (4:05): The live version, included in the luxury edition of Bad 25 and on the DVD Live at Wembley On July 16, 1988, it was recorded during one of the shows at Wembley Stadium during the Bad World Tour .

The song was subsequently recorded as cover by singer Brandy in 1997, and was included in Album Q’s Jook Joint , produced by Quincy Jones. He also made a version of the same Ashanti in 2005 as Remix of his single “Rock With Me (Aww Baby)”, which he played in the delivery of the Bet Awards. In 2008, Michael’s sister, Janet, launched a similar title song, “Rock with U”, in her album Discipline , but it is another composition without any relationship with that of Rod Temperton. In 2012, Brazilian singer Fabiana Passoni made a version of the Rhythm song by Bossa Nova Jazz Fusion.
