Baby D is the name of a British drum-and-bass/euro house band that with its single Let Me Be Your Fantasy It became known that first place in the British single charts.
The group was launched by Production House Records, a record label that was founded in 1987 by Phil Fearon, whose band Phil Fearon & Galaxy was able to place several hitsingles in the British charts in the 1980s. The producer of Production House, Floyd Dyce, was involved in the rave scene and published his works under various names such as The House Crew, DMS and XStatic. Baby D became another mouthpiece for his compositions and consisted of the singer (Baby D) Dee Galdes-Fearon, the keyboardist and singer Terry Jones (MC Nino) as well as the keyboardist and brass player Claudio Galdez.
The early singles between 1991 and 1994 were underground hits. Two of them made it to the rear positions of the UK Top 75. Let Me Be Your Fantasy was the exception. It was released for the first time in 1992 and stayed in the lower half of the unpublished top 200 list with approximately 40,000 copies sold for two years. It also reached the dancharts for two weeks. In 1994 the play was released by London Records, got in third place on the British charts straight away and was able to hold the top position for two weeks. This time around a quarter of a million copies were sold.
In the summer of 1995, Baby D reached third place with a rave version of the ballad Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime by The Korgis, the in I Need Your Loving was renamed. More hits and a top 5 album called Deliverance followed.
Dyce now heads his own label, Redmaster, and continues to write and produce, while Fearon and Jones still occur at Raves and events in Great Britain, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Greece and the Middle East.
Jones also wrote on a number one hit by Peter Andre and produced and mixed for Eternal, the Backstreet Boys and Sarah Cracknell.
2000 came from a remix of Let Me Be Your Fantasy In 16th place. The song was also covered in 2004 by Ashley Jade.
In the summer of 2008 the band took part in the Rave Global Gathering.
