The Fujifilm X-Pro2 is a mirrorless digital system camera that in January 2016 [first] [2] was presented and since March 2016 [3] is available. It is part of the Fujifilm-X series and official successor to the Fujifilm X-Pro1.
The mirrorless Fujifilm X-Pro2 is aimed at professional and ambitious amateur photographers. The camera housing has an X-Bajonett to connect Fujinon XF and XC lenses. The autofocus system works as a hybrid by means of contrast and phase detection, which enables the focus and triggering within 0.15 to 0.25 seconds from infinity to two meters. For manual focus, the user has a focus motion, a digital cutting image indicator and focus peaking. [4] The camera enables 30 RAW or around 140 JPEG recordings with up to eight pictures per second. The mechanical closure enables exposure times of 30 to 1/8000 seconds, with electronic closure, shutter speeds of up to 1/32,000 seconds are possible.
In addition to a rigid and rear LC display, the camera has a hybrid-optical viewfinder. This is a combination of optical (OVF) and electronic viewfinder (EVF) and enables the photographer to show information into the optical viewfinder field or switch to the electronic viewfinder with 2.36 million pixels and 100% viewfinder field.
The X-Pro2 has no motif, HDR or panoramic functions. Like its predecessor, X-Pro1, she has different Fujifilm-typical film simulations. In addition, the user offers functions for automatic exposure, white balance, dynamic and film simulation series. [4]
With the integrated Wi-Fi function, the X-Pro2 can be remotely controlled using a smartphone or tablet. [5]
The Fujifilm-X-Trans-Sensor-III is used for image intake. This measures 23.6 × 15.6 mm in the APS-C format, with a resolution of 24.3 megapixels with a pixel pitch of 3.9 µm. [6] In contrast to Bayer-CMOS sensors, it has a different structure, which enables a different sampling process and thus makes the use of an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) superfluous. The failure of a low -pass filter has a positive effect on the resolution. [7]
According to the test reports [8] The X-Trans-III 24-megapixel-CMOS sensor has a maximum resolution of 2,104 line pairs per picture height (see Nikon D750 approx. 1,860 [9] , Sony A7R II 2,448 line pairs [ten] ).
The camera was mostly positively received by the specialist media. Among other things, the high image quality, [11] The large dynamic range in RAW format, [twelfth] The contemporary autofocus system [13] , as well as the hybrid seeker [8] praised. On the other hand, the original lack of a 4K video recording function (which was later added via firmware update), the low capacity of the battery system, was criticized. [11] The execution of the ISO dial, as well as the rigid back LC display. [8]
With the firmware 2.0 presented on October 16, 2016, X-Pro2 received the same autofocus algorithm, which Fujifilm introduced with the Fujifilm X-T2. This increased in addition to the precision of the phase comparison autofocus, the number of selectable autofocus points to 91 (matrix from 7 × 13) or 325 (13 × 25). [14]
