The children John Denniston Berger and Diana Marie Berger emerged from this marriage. From 1941 to 1946 he served as an officer at the United States Army Air Corps. After the war, he continued his military service as a reservist at the United States Army Air Forces and was released with the rank of a lieutenant colonel.
