After a failed marriage to the middle -class writer Leopold Hubermann, a fake marriage with the Expressionist Simon Guttmann and an intensive friendship with Rainer Maria Rilke, she studied from 1920 to 1923 at the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute, where she appeared as a doctor. When she suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis, her institute manager Karl Abraham and Sigmund Freud made it possible to heal. [first] In the early 1920s, she married Wilhelm Rohr, an intellectual and KPD member, with whom she moved to Moscow around 1926 and accepted the Soviet citizenship. [2] There researched Angela in the field of biology and wrote for German newspapers such as the Frankfurter Zeitung Feuilletons and reports – Loyal [to the prevailing Stalinist system], but not propaganda. [first] The Rohrs were arrested in 1941, Wilhelm Rohr probably died in 1942 in the Saratow prison. Bertolt Brecht had in vain about Konstantin Alexandrowitsch Fedin for Angela. She spent 15 years in prison and exile, from 1943 in the “improvement work camp” in Nischni Tagil. [3] She survived the Gulag in Siberia because her skills as a doctor were useful. In 1957 she was rehabilitated, she was able to return to Moscow. Initially, she wrote in the style of Expressionism and Dadaism – Rilke raved about her early prose – later shaped realistic, unvarnished representations of her experiences from the Gulag.
