Arinthod is a French community with 1112 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Jura department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. She belongs to the

Arinthod is located in the southwest of the Jura department, 90 kilometers northeast of Lyon, about 50 kilometers northwest of Geneva and 17 kilometers northwest of Oyonnax, between the neighboring communities of Chisséria in the south, Dramelay in the northwest and Cézia in the east. The Valouse flows west of the town center through the municipal area. [3] About 41.65% of the municipal area are forested. The hamlets Vogna and Néglia belong to the community.

The (total) population of the community Arinthod were determined by adding the Chisséria, the independent community of Chisséria until the end of 2017.

Arinthod was first mentioned in 1155. The village was built on the edge of the Dramelay Castle, the ruins of which lies in the municipal area of ​​Dramelay. Your Donjon can still be visited. The grand master of the Templar Order Bernard de Tromelai (1100–1153) lived there. [first]

In 1793 Arinthod received the status of a municipality in the course of the French Revolution (1789–1799) and the right to municipal self -government in 1801. The industrial area is located in the north of Arinthod Forest activity area , In the west is an industrial area in which the Smoby company operates a production facility.
