From 1909 to 1918 he was the Interior and Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saxony. His parents were Count Otto Heinrich Vitzthum von Eckst\u00e4dt (1829\u20131917) and his wife Johanna Amalie born Miltiz (1824\u20131876). In 1891 Christoph Vitzthum of Eckst\u00e4dt married Elisabeth Gr\u00e4fin von Harrach (1870\u20131961), heiress of the Silesian Castle Tiefhartmannsdorf. With her he testified two sons and five daughters. He attended the Vitzthum Gymnasium in Dresden and performed his military service as a one-year-old volunteer at the wardrobe regiment, which he later remained connected as a reserve officer (from 1901 Rittmeister). After studying law in Lausanne, Berlin and Leipzig, he became a trainee in Dresden in 1887, until he entered the Royal Saxon Civil Service in 1890 as legation secretary. After a one -year familiarization, he was transferred to the legation of the Saxon king in Berlin in 1891, from where he was appointed back in 1894. To promote his career, he accepted a position as a district assessor at the official team in Dresden in 1896. In the administrative service, he then rose to the government assessor in 1897 and in 1900 to the government council with the district chief team in Chemnitz. In 1901 he finally became official in Annaberg. From 1906 to 1909 he represented the Kingdom of Saxony in the Federal Council in Berlin as a representative. His knowledge of the administration, the diplomatic corps and, last but not least, his outstanding efficiency recommended him in 1909 for the appointment as the Royal Saxon Minister of State of the Interior and for foreign affairs. He retained this position until he retired in October 1918.
