The CJD Christophorus School Königswinter is a state-recognized, private replacement school in the Rhein-Sieg district (North Rhine-Westphalia, on the border with Rhineland-Palatinate), whose carrier is the Christian youth village of Germany (CJD). It consists of a secondary school and a high school that are equivalent to the corresponding state schools. The Christophorus School has around 1450 students (of which secondary school: 400), who are taught by around 105 teachers. In addition, she has a boarding school for students in grades 5 to 12, a continuous branch for highly gifted students, a competence center of high gifted promotion [first] And a school psychological advice center with a graduate psychologist. [2]

There are student exchange projects with schools in the USA (Milford (Ohio)), France (Avignon, Cognac and Sangatte), Great Britain, Spain, Sweden (Kungsbacka), Bolivia (Santa Cruz) and also trips to Japan. [3]

The Christophorus School was founded in 1992 by Hans-Joachim Gardyan on behalf of the CJD, whereby the college comprised almost twenty teachers at the beginning, seven of which, like Gardyan himself CJD Braunschweig had taught. In 1992 the school started with a total of 360 students from grades 5–8 of the junior high school and grades 5–11 of the high school. The first teaching building was that from 1969 to 1971 according to a design by the architect Ernst van Dorp [4] built construction of the predecessor school closed in 1991 Petersberggymnasium [5] (today: A-building with AK-wing). Later, with a larger number of students, the premises of the closed in 1995 Städtische Realschule am Petersberg (today: B building with BF tract), which had formed a school center with the Petersberggymnasium. Before the school was founded, there was a violent dispute in the City Council of the City of Königswinter about the future of the empty school building, which delayed the school start, originally planned for 1991. As an alternative, the establishment of an (urban) comprehensive school was planned. In 1995 the Christophorus School had the first graduation year and the first year of the secondary school. In 2000 the boarding school (with outdoor living groups and a neighboring building was opened around 70 places). Since 2004, the Christophorus School has also been organizing all-day care (OGS) at the neighboring Johann-Lemmerz primary school. [6]

In September 2005, with the support of the Deutsche Telekom Foundation And its chairman Klaus Kinkel started a junior engineering academy in the differentiation area of the high school, which modifies the Baden-Württemberg student engineering academy for the middle school. [7] In January 2006 the largely funded by the Bonn-Berlin equalization fund Kreativhaus opened, [8] [9] that is also available to the other schools in the region. Hans-Joachim Gardyan was available as a youth village and headmaster from 1992 to 2006. [ten] Reinhard Koglin (overall management, until 2020), Johannes Heide (school management Gymnasium, † 2014, successor is Wilhelm Meyer) and Jörg Möller (school management Realschule, until 2009, successor was Andreas Breitenstein until 2019, since Martin Krude [11] ) in August 2006.
Since the 2009/2010 school year, he has been taught with 60-minute hours and extended breaks. These extended breaks also made it possible to change the building to the rooms rented until March 2015 in the Königswinter employee center, 500 meters away, in which part of the lesson of the Abitur year took place.
The self -learning center was opened in November 2009, [twelfth] A building in the style of the creative house, to which the extended library was laid. In July 2010, construction began for the enlarged cafeteria in the area between the auditorium and the district station, which was put into operation at the beginning of the school year 2011/2012. [13] The Rauschendorf kindergarten has been part of the CJD Königswinter since August 1, 2012. [14] In summer 2017, an extension (D building) with four classrooms was opened. The Königswinter MINT-EC school has been the Christophorus School since the end of 2017. [15]
