Gómez (familienname) – wikipedia

before-content-x4

Gómez is a common Spanish family name. Outside the Spanish -speaking area, the form comes occasionally Gomez before. The name is a patronymically educated family name that of Mountain or Gome was derived. The Portuguese and Galician form of it is Gomes, while the Catalan form is Gomis. The first name Gome is guided by the West Gothic word tire for “man”. Several Germanic related words have the same meaning (old English: tire , Central English: mountain, [first] althochdeutsch: mountain , Middle High German: gome ) and are with the Latin homo related.
