It was with Hirschberg, now Warstein district. The only preserved part of the facility, next to the former stall, is the main gate from the 18th century, which in the 19th century as Hirschberger Tor was integrated into the building complex of the former Wedinghausen abbey in Arnsberg. Hirschberg Castle before 1826 (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4In 1340, Count Gottfried IV of Arnsberg from the Archbishop Walram of Jülich in Cologne obtained the right to equip the town of Hirschberg with city rights and to build a castle there. In 1368, the castle came together with the county of Arnsberg to the Duchy of Westphalia belonging to Köln, whereupon a castle was created instead of the castle. This was completely destroyed in the Thirty Years’ War. From 1662, Elector Maximilian Heinrich von Bayern had a new castle built at this point, which was mainly used as the starting point for electoral hunting. The master builder was a brother Conitius. The construction was completed in 1668. The building had four towers and, according to contemporaries, was almost as representative as the Arnsberg Castle. But at the time of Elector Joseph Clemens of Bavaria, the building fabric was attacked and had to be partially renewed, according to a file of 1691. Under Clemens August I of Bavaria, the castle experienced the culmination of its importance, numerous great hunts took place during his reign in Hirschberg. In this context, in addition to hunting huts, a few small chapels were created in which the elector had measurements read after hunting. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4Smart replenishment of the Hirschberger Gate in Hirschberg The elector had a representative entrance gate made of Rüthener sandstone built in 1753. The design goes back to Johann Conrad Schlaun, the plastic jewelry was created by Johann Christoph Manskirch. The gate consists of three parts. In addition to a wide mid -door gate, there are two small entrances. There are two hunting scenes on the gate. There are a few reliefs on the gate itself: on the right side a larger electoral coat of arms, on the left side of the winding “CA” name decorated with hunting problems. On the inside is the client’s title egg on the left: “Clemenz: 500 (ei): G (Ratia): Archiep (IROCKIEP (IROCKE): S (Arc): R (Oman): IMP (Eri): P (ER): Ital (already)) Ncellarius): Et: El (extorter): Leg (ATUS): Nat (US): S (): AP (Ostolica): Ad (Minister): Sup (Remus): Bor ( USSIA): Ord (un): Teut (onic): P (ER): GERM (Aniam): Hal (N) (NUM) (UE): Praef (Icus): EP (Icopus) Hil (Desheimensis): Pad (Erbornensis): Mo (Nasteri): E (T): (UE): Bava (Riae): Sup (Riae): Pal (Sup): West (Phalia):) And: Ung (Aria): Chief: etc: etc. On the right it says: “Portas ex fvndamento extravctas his statvis exornari cvravat.” The highlighted letters result in as Roman digits, the year of construction 1753. [first] After the rule of Clemens August, the electors’ interest in the Hirschberg Castle succeeded. Big hunts were hardly held. The system was managed by a burgrave, plus several forest officials. The structures were neglected, so that after the transition of the Duchy of Westphalia to Hessen-Darmstadt in 1802, the new government considered a restoration to be too expensive and caused the demolition after the castle burned down in 1788. Only the wing with the stable was preserved and housed a forester. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4 Back of the Hirschberger Gate with a view of the old town of Arnsberg The gate initially stopped in old place. The goal was also unnoticed under the Prussian rule since 1816. In 1824, a survey of art monuments ensured that the district administrator Franz Anton Thüsing became aware of the goal and encouraged the transfer to Arnsberg. The local newspaper debated the new location for a long time. The decision finally brought the decision of the superstructure deputation to demolish a wing of the former Wedinghausen monastery for fire protection reasons. The gate was set up at this point. Reduction, transport and reconstruction were partially financed by private donations. After building the gate in Arnsberg, the so -called Beckermann table was inserted on the outside. This is reminiscent of the unsuccessful attack by General Beckermann in the Thirty Years’ War on Arnsberg: “Through lightning and rain, God’s blessings in St. Norberti Nacht chased the Beckermann.” [2] Another table was attached in 1893. This is reminiscent of the 250th anniversary of the Laurentianum grammar school: “Through God’s kind-the school bloomed-Magister and Scholar-250 years.” [first] ↑ a b Féaux de Lacroix, S. 403 ↑ Féaux de Lacroix, S. 344 Karl Féaux de Lacroix: History of Arnsberg .
