Peter Opladen was born the youngest of three sons in Flittard. The father, Heinrich Opladen and the mother Elisabeth, born Steinbüchel, manage a farm there.

He spent his childhood in Flittard, his father died when he was 12 years old, his mother died four years later. He attended the Quirinus-Gymnasium in Neuss and studied theology and history at the University of Bonn after passing the Abitur. After the ordination in Cologne’s cathedral on March 15, 1902, he became chaplain in Lennep, two years later the rectorate in Obereip in the Westerwald was broadcast. In addition to his work as a pastor, he found the possibility of serious and historical studies. He was able to acquire the philosophical doctoral degree at the University of Bonn with a work in the field of church history research. On February 26, 1907, the Church Doctor Peter Opladen appointed the first rector of the newly founded higher school in Engelskirchen. In the two years of his activity, the Bergisches Landschaft did not remain without influence on its activities, especially the area between Bergisch Gladbach, Lindlar and Wipperfürth was his historical research.

February 26, 1907 first rector of the school in Engelskirchen. In 1909 his work as a religion teacher began at the Realgymnasium in Essen-Katernberg and on March 7, 1913 at the junior high school in Krefeld. Before his employment as a study council at the municipal high school in Krefeld, he worked for a short time at the Ursulinenlyceum in Aachen. Due to the unfounding of time and his work as a historian, Opladen had his retirement in 1937 and has lived in Kürten-Biesfeld since then, where he continued to work and was appointed papal secret chamber.
In 1938 a manuscript was created on the history of the parish of Willich near Krefeld, in 1940 “The Minorites in Duisburg 1265 to 1832”, 1946 a pressure on the history and the parish of Bensberg. Contributions to the history of the diaspora of the Archdiocese of Cologne have not been printed because the manuscript was lost in the destruction of the house of the Boniface Association in Paderborn.

The history of the Flittard parish, was only published in 1941 as a manuscript in 1989. In the yearbook of the Cologne History Association in 1953, “The history of the former monastery was published Seyen Or Sion zu Köln ”, in 1957 Opladen described the Augustinian monastery S. Maria Magdalena am Blaubach in Cologne, the Order of the Weißfrauen. In 1951 the historical archive in Cologne published its work on the abbey and history of Groß St. Martin and the history of the parish of Groß St, Martin. Further fonts are “The Deanery Wipperfürth”, “Coming and parish of men’s rounds in their historical development” or the home books for Leverkusen-Schlebusch.

The home book of Engelskirchen im Aggertal was published in 1951 with the participation of Josef Külheim, with whom he also published the home book of the Hohkeppel community in 1958. After the death of Peter Opladen, the book of Engelskirchen was published in 1959 in the Agger Valley of Opladen and Edmund Schiefeling with the coll. Ing. Ing. Josef Külheim.
