As part of the “Neue Mitte” project, the park was under the name of the brache industrial estate under the name Centro.park built and opened in 1996 by the Centro operator company.

Oscar Bruch Jr., A son of the Bruch Showmen family, took over the park in 2001. The original 8.5 hectare stroller park was moderately expanded, but the nature -related character of the park was retained.

In 2002 the park was first expanded by 5 hectares. The first attraction on the new area was the game tent. From 2003, Benjamin Blümchen was “personally” to meet in the Centro Park. In 2005 the park received a new entrance at a more exposed area compared to the Coca-Cola-Oase of the neighboring shopping center Centro. A chain carousel was set up as a further ride.

The “pirate fleet” was inaugurated in 2006. These were boats for steering with three water cannons on board, which were to be driven through a course, with visitors to shoot each other with water cannons. Most recently, the classic car train was added in 2007.

On September 23, 2006, the millionth visitors were counted in the park.

On March 23, 2010, Oscar Bruch terminated jr. In a press release, to concentrate on his core business with mobile leisure facilities again at the end of the 2010 season and to end the commitment in Oberhausen. Large investments and thus a long -term bond with the park have become necessary to continue the business, the park manager justified his decision. The Centro Park went into its last season after ten years under the direction of Oscar Bruch. At the same time, a larger game tent, a nature trail and various events were announced for the year. After most rides were dismantled after the end of the 2010 season, Merlin Entertainments Group announced in April 2011 to reopen the park on April 16, 2011 with new leadership with seven attractions. [2] This also happened, but only with five attractions.

However, all attractions should be dismantled with the exception of the penguing steal and the reduced playgrounds. [3]

However, this was not done. In the meantime, there were plans to build two American mini golf plants in spring 2017. [6] But this was also not implemented. Instead, the donkey penguins were brought to a new enclosure in Paris in early 2017.

In the summer of 2018, it became known that the contract with Merlin Entertainment should be terminated and that the Centro takes responsibility for the site again. There are no concrete plans for the subsequent use. However, the park has been cordoned off since 2019. In spring 2018, all attractions except the tractor railway were dismantled. Their whereabouts is unknown. [7] The Jeep Safari of Serengeti Park Hodenhagen is the former Merlin Entertainment system from Oberhausen. [8] [9] [ten] This was opened in Serengeti Park near the former Graetz ‘classic car Garage in 2018 and was then implemented and has been near Aqua Safari and the Kumba Twister since the 2019 season. The red parking train (Ex Heide Park Resort) was sold with the identical blue train of the Heide Park to the Europa-Park as a replacement for the two trains destroyed during the major fire. [11] The rest as well as the attractions of the former Centro. Park, such as B. “Rodeo” [twelfth] was sold to the middleman Usent Rides Apeldoorn. In his references, this also advertises with the former Centro. Park. [13] Most recently, MS Seegang and the White Water Railway were for sale.
