Stephan James (* December 16, 1993 in Toronto [first] [2] ) is a Canadian film actor.

James had his television career in 2010 in a supporting role in television film My babysitter is a vampire and through two appearances in the Canadian teen comedy Degrassi: The Next Generation began. In 2012, he received his first major role in a feature film in the Canadian film drama Home Again , in which he played a deported Jamaican. In the later than Best movie for the Oscar nominated film drama Selma James played the civil rights activist John Lewis in 2014. He received another leading role in filming Time for legends , in which he embodies the protagonist Jesse Owens. James received another leading role in the film If Beale Street Could Talk by Barry Jenkins. [3]

Together with his brother Shamier Anderson, he founded the “B.L.A.C.K. Ball ”, a series of events that took place in 2019 during the Toronto Film Festival and during the Oscars season in Los Angeles. [4]
