F\u00fcnen ), which leads via the Svendborgsund to the town of Vindeby on the small island of T\u00e5singe. The bridge, which was completed in 1966, was the last link that connects Funen over Si\u00f8sundbroen (1960) and Langelandsbroen (1962) to the Langeland island. [5] The Fernstra\u00dfe Prim\u00e6rrute 9 leads over the two -lane road bridge, which is used there every day by 15,700 vehicles (as of 2009). His design, which provided a 950 meter long arch bridge, could initially be realized due to the outbreak of the Second World War. But when the alternative between a bridge and a tunnel solution was discussed in the early 1960s, his plans were taken up again after his death in 1961 and continued by the engineers J. Hannemann and Poul M\u00f8ller Nielsen. The decision was made in favor of a bar bridge because it would fit into the landscape more harmoniously using a slim pillar. After three years of construction, the building was finally inaugurated on November 18, 1966 by the then crown princess and today’s Danish Queen Margrethe II.
