Like many members of the Chinese minority on Timor, Tchong spent the Indonesian occupation of East Timor in exile Australia before returning to East Timor after 17 years. [first] Before her work for the East Timor Foreign Ministry, she worked for the East Timor Humanitarian Response Group (Ethrg), who supported refugees in returning to East Timor. [2] In 2002 Ol\u00edmpio Branch, the previous general secretary of the East Timor Foreign Ministry, new deputy foreign minister. From September onwards, he first replaced an executive team that took over the position every four months in the rotation principle. This consisted of Nelson Santos, as director of bilateral relationships, Vicky Tchong, administrative director and head of the consular department and Roberto Soares, director of regional affairs. As of January 1, 2004, Santos was initially in the interim appointed sole general secretary; Tchong became Vice Secretary General. [3] [4] Later Tchong went to the East Timoresian Embassy in Beijing, where Ol\u00edmpio Branco has been the first East Timo -Ambassador in the People’s Republic of China since 2005. In 2008, however, she returned to East Timor and was now Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs East Timor, the highest position behind Foreign Minister Zacarias da Costa. [5] [6] [7] In the same year she became a member of the working group to create the Comiss\u00e3o da Fun\u00e7\u00e3o P\u00fablica (CFP), which started her work in 2009. [8] On November 26, 2010, Tchong was appointed East Timoresian ambassador in the People’s Republic of China, following Ol\u00edmpio Branco. Tchong handed over her accreditation to China’s President Hu Jintao on February 15, 2011. [9] Her successor as an ambassador, Bendito Freita, was appointed on November 15, 2015 and handed over his accreditation on February 29, 2016.
