Comfort to ( Tuan Yizuo , Ikuma ? , April 7, 1924 in Tokyo – May 17, 2001 In Suzhou, jiangsu province ) , is a Japanese composer, specialized in operas. Dan was born in Tokyo, his grandfather is Baron Dan Takuma who was president of the Mitsui group before being murdered in 1932 during the blood League incident. He graduated from the University of Tokyo Arts in 1946. One of his teachers was the opera composer Kosaku Yamada. During his career, he wrote seven operas as well as film music and many songs. He wrote celebration music for the Imperial Japanese family and favored cultural exchanges with 1979 China until his death in Suzhou in 2001. He had been chosen to write a new opera, TAKERU , for the opening of the new Tokyo National Theater in 1997. He is best known for his opera Yusuru from 1952 which was replayed regularly. Much of his work has been recorded. Dan received the honors of the Japan Foundation in 1998 [ first ] .
