Fran\u00e7ois-R\u00e9gis is the thirteenth of the fifteen children of the C\u00e9saire Clet and Claire (or Claudine) Bourquy (or Bourquis), of the maternal family of Henri Beyle (Stendhal). One of his sisters becomes Carmelite, and one of his brothers becomes Chartreux. He begins his studies at Grenoble college. At his request, he continued them with Lazarists in Lyon, with whom he entered the seminar in 1769 [ first ] , [ 2 ] . He made a religious profession by pronouncing his wishes of Lazarist him 18 mars 1771 . Brother Fran\u00e7ois-R\u00e9gis Clet is ordained a priest two years later, the 27 mars 1773 . He was then a professor of morality for fifteen years, at the great seminary of Annecy, where he is nicknamed “itinerant library”. He knew the persecution of 1805, 1811 and 1818 there, then he was arrested the June 6, 1819 , near Nan-Yang-Fou, and imprisoned.
