The story of Worldpay began in 1989, under the name of Streamline , as a payment service provider of the National Westminster Bank (Natwest) [ 3 ] . After the acquisition of Natwest in 2002 by Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS) [ 4 ] , the company is renowned RBS WorldPay . RBS considerably expands its activities by acquiring and merging a number of payment solutions companies from different countries such as PaymentTrust, Bibit based in the Netherlands, Riskguardian and Lynk in the United States [ 5 ] . Due to aid received by the British government RBS bank, the parent company is held by the European Commission to sell, in December 2009 , a number of activities including Worldpay. THE August 6, 2010 , Advent International and Bain Capital acquire Worldpay for $ 2.7 billion [ 6 ] . In October 2015 , after the refusal to be acquired by Ingenico, Worldpay is introduced on the stock market within the framework of an IPO in the amount of 2.16 billion pounds on approximately half of the capital, the shareholders Advent and Bain Capital keeping a participation of the order of 49% [ 11 ] . This IPO then values \u200b\u200bthe company to 4.8 billion pounds, the equivalent of $ 7.4 billion [ twelfth ] . In July 2017 , Vantiv announces the acquisition of Worldpay for 7.7 billion pounds, a sum which will be made up of 85% share exchange [ 13 ] , [ 14 ] . In mars 2019 , FIS announces the acquisition for $ 35 billion in Worldpay, new from Vantiv after the acquisition of the first, acquisition which ended in January 2019 [ 15 ] .
