He decided to change his sporting nationality at the dawn of the 2010-2011 season, after having brought Croatia his first Olympic biathlon medal in 2010 and his first world medal in 2009. He became world champion of 20 km In 2012 and mass departure in 2015. In 2018, after a white season, he won his second Olympic medal, this time for Slovenia, in silver on the individual. In December 2006 , he made his World Cup debut in Hochfilzen and in 2007 at the world championships.
