Jean Andreau is a French historian and academic, born in 1939 , specialist in economics and society in the Roman world. Former student of the \u00c9cole normale sup\u00e9rieure (promotion 1960) and former member of the French school of Rome, he was both the pupil Pierre Grimal, Julien Guey and Claude Nicolet. Lecturer from 1979 to 1987, he then became director of studies at the \u00c9cole des Hautes Etudes in Social Sciences from 1988 to his retirement. SO zese soutenue in 1972 to Strasbourg by Strasbourg by Luculi Borcutus (in) and was published by the French School of Rome in 1974.
