The Thourout station (Also Gare De Torhout ) (in Dutch : Torhout station ) is a Belgian railway station on line 66, from Bruges to Courtrai, located near the center of the city of Thourout in the province of Flander-Western in the Flemish region.

It was put into service in 1846 by the Railway Society of Flanders-Western (FO). It is a station of the National Society of Belgian Railways (SNCB) served by intercity trains (IC), Omnibus (L) and rush hour (P).

Established at 19 meters above sea level, the Torhout station is located at the kilometric point [ first ] (PK) 18,300 of line 66, from Bruges to Kortrijk, between the open stations of Zedelgem and Lichtervelde.

It is an old bifurcation station, culmination, after Wynendaele station, from line 62, from Ostend to Torhout (closed), and origin of line 63, from Torhout to Ypres (closed).

The Torhout station is put into service on , by the Railway Society of Flanders-Western (FO), when it opens the operation the section of Bruges in Torhout, from its line of Bruges to Courtrai. It becomes a passage station with the opening of the following section of Torhout in Lichtervelde, put it into service [ 2 ] .

It becomes a fork to open the operations, by the company of Ostend in Armentières, from the Ostend line to Torthout le [ 3 ] . Its traffic is reinforced with the opening, by the same company, of the Torhout line in Ypres the [ 4 ] .

The Torhout section in Kortamark, on the Torhout line in Ypres, is closed to all traffic in 1950 [ 4 ] . On the Ostend line in Torhout, traveler traffic closes the , and travelers traffic first is September of the same year [ 3 ] . The goods service at Torhout station is closed in 1988 [ 2 ] .

For [ 5 ] . SNCB, it has a passenger building, with a counter, open every day. Equipment, equipment and services are available to people with reduced mobility. It is notably equipped with an automaton for the purchase of transport titles.

An underground allows crossing the tracks and the passage from one platform to another.

Torhout is served by intercity trains (IC) of the SNCB, which carry out missions on the commercial line: 66 (Bruges – Courtrai) (see SNCB brochure [ 6 ] ).

During the week, there are two climbs on the hour:

  • A unique IC-12 train between Ostend and Louvain via Kortrijk, in the morning, and another IC-12 between Welkenraedt and Ostend via Courtrai, in the evening
  • A P train from Ostend in Kortrijk, in the morning
  • Two trains P from Kortrijk to Bruges, in the morning, including one continuing to Knokke and another towards Bruges in the afternoon
  • A P train from Blankenberge to Kortrijk, in the morning, and two others in the afternoon

On weekends and holidays, the service includes:

  • IC-23 trains circulating between Ostend and Brussels-National-Airports
  • IC-32 trains circulating between Bruges and Kortrijk (every two hours)

A park for bikes and a car park for vehicles are arranged there [ 5 ] . It is served by buses.
