Mickey, Pippo and Donald Balene hunters ( The Whalers ) is a 1938 film directed by David Hand and Dick Huemer. It is an animation short film of the series Mickey Mouse , distributed in the United States by the Rko Radio Pictures on August 19, 1938. [first] It was also distributed with the titles The whale It is Hunting of whales , and in 1978 it was inserted, without head and tail titles, in the assembly film Happy birthday Mickey Mouse . On that occasion Paperino and Pippo were respectively dubbed by Claudio Sorrentino and Giuliano Persico.

Mickey Mouse, Pippo and Donald are on a whale looking for whales. Mickey Mouse tries to launch a bucket of water from the ship, but the water continues to go back like a boomerang. In the meantime, Paperino and Pippo warn a whale, but Pippo, striving to shoot an harpoon, lands inside the mouth of the whale, so Donald Duck tries to come to his rescue. Pippo manages to get out of the mouth of the whale, and it begins to chase Donald. The two lead the whale to the boat, but the mammal is too large and ends up destroying the whale. The three land on some remaining tables and Pippo believes he has taken the whale, but it is only a fish. When he realizes the size of his prey Pippo exclaims: “Damn! He must be lost!”.
