Robert Jesse Pulford ,, that Bob Pulford , (born the In Newton Robinson, in the province of Ontario in Canada) is a professional player, a head coach as well as a retired director of ice hockey. He currently acts as an assistant to the National Hockey League Commissioner.
Having grown up in the suburbs of Toronto, Bob Pulford is taken at young age under the protection of the Toronto Maple Leafs who then sees his development at the Junior B level with the Dukes of Weston then with the Toronto Marlboros of the Hockey Association of Ontario. The team is led by the former star player of Leafs Turk Broda. The Broda troop wins two consecutive Memorial Cups during the two seasons where Pulford aligns for them.
Becoming a professional player in 1956, he joined the Maple Leafs and stayed with them during the fourteen seasons that follow, winning the Stanley Cup four times. Continuing his part -time studies for nine years, he obtained a baccalaureate in art in 1964.
Exchanged by the Maple Leafs at the Kings of Los Angeles in 1970, he stayed with them for two seasons before withdrawing from the competition [ first ] .

It is not long out of the world of hockey, accepting in the summer of 1972 the job of Kings head coach. He remains at the helm of these for five seasons, seeing his team bowing in the last two in the second round of the playoffs. In 1975 he won the Jack-Adams trophy given to the par excellence coach in the League.
Pulford joined in 1977 the organization of the Black Hawks of Chicago where he won the job coach positions and director-general of the training. There are two seasons in office behind the team bench before focusing on his DG job. Subsequently appointed senior vice-president of Hawks And also assistant to the Governor of the NHL, he made a temporary return as a coach in 1981-1982 then resumed the post from 1984 to 87. Finally, he returned one last time in 1999-2000.
He left his DG and Senior Blackhawks VP posts in 2007, then accepting the post of Wirtz Corporation Vice-President [ 2 ] , the same owners of the Blackhawks. He then serves as a liaison agent between the Blackhawks and the NHL business office. In addition, he retains his position as assistant to the Governor of the League.
Although he spent 25 years in the Blackhawks organization, it is as a player that Pulford is inducted into the temple of renown of hockey in 1991.
