Rasguélénian bulls ,, that Toros rast-clan ,, that Bulls , born the in Aleppo (Syria) and died on In Romans-sur-Isère, is a French sculptor. R. Toros is his signature as an artist. The name of Toros is that of an uncle who died burned in a church with three hundred children during the genocide [ first ] .

Born in Aleppo (Syria) in a modest Armenian family from Ourfa, he left school at 11 years old [ 2 ] And exercises various professions before working on metal: arc welder, locksmith, ironworker. At 25, he has his own ironwork business [ 2 ] and manufactures beds and stoves. An architect commands him a cross for the bell tower of the Saint Kevork church of Aleppo [ 2 ] .

During a trip to Armenia (then in the USSR) in 1962, he discovered the equestrian statue of David de Sassoun, which is for him a revelation [ 2 ] . Back in Aleppo, he puts himself in the sculpture of the metal, produced fountains, and after several exhibitions he obtained in 1966 the first prize of sculpture for The emancipation of the Arab woman [ 3 ] .

In 1967, he decided to go to France [ 4 ] To follow artistic studies. He meets painters and sculptors who dissuade him from entering the Fine Arts. He therefore continues his work with his only personal experience. He settled in Valence, then in Romans, in Drôme, in a region where an important Armenian community established itself. Toros works a lot in the memory of his roots, he is the author of a large number of monuments in memory of the victims of the Armenian genocide: in Valence, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Saint-Étienne. He is also the author of Toros trophy Awarded each year in Marseille to reward the best authors of Franco-Armenian literature.

He died the in Romans-sur-Isère [ 5 ] . His funeral is celebrated on At the Saint-Sahag church in Valence in the presence of Hugues Moutouh and Didier Guillaume [ 2 ] . He rests in Romans [ 2 ] .
