The Lot-et-Garonne prefect is Béatrice Lagarde, named in . The sub-prefects are Hélène Girardot, secretary general, in charge of the district of Agen, Francis Bianchi, in charge of the districts of Nérac and Marmande, and Véronique Schaaf, in charge of the district of Villeneuve-sur-Lot [ first ] .

2002 presidential election [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

In the department, it was Jean-Marie Le Pen who comes at the top of the first round, with 18.91%of the vote, ahead of Jacques Chirac (17.46%) and Lionel Jospin (15.74%).
In the second round, according to the national trend, it is Jacques Chirac who wins with 77.94% of the vote [ 2 ] .

2007 presidential election [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

The , Lot-et-Garonnais place Nicolas Sarkozy in the first round in the first round (29.17% of the vote) ahead of Ségolène Royal (25.22% of the vote).
In the second round, Nicolas Sarkozy was elected with 53.96% of the votes in Lot-et-Garonne [ 3 ] .

François Hollande comes first (26.91%), as at the national level, ahead of Nicolas Sarkozy (25.32%).
In the second round, the socialist candidate became president by collecting 51.35% of the votes in Lot-et-Garonne [ 4 ] .

In the department, Marine Le Pen leads in the first round (25.03% of the expressed) ahead of Emmanuel Macron (20.79%). The latter brings together 59.47% of the votes cast in the second round [ 5 ] .

Henri Tandonnet (NC, 51.68%) and Pierre Camani (PS, 51.57%) are elected senators [ 6 ] .

In the department, Alain Rousset wins (PS, 48.02%) ahead of Xavier Darcos (UMP, 33.68%) and Jacques Colombier (FN, 18.30%) [ 7 ] .

2010 regional elections [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

As at the regional level, Alain Rousset is re -elected at the head of the Aquitaine Regional Council with 52.18% of the vote against 32.28% for Xavier Darcos [ 8 ] .

2015 regional elections [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

The socialist majority led by Alain Rousset at the regional level and Mathias Fekl in Lot-et-Garonne is renewed with 38.7% of the votes, before the lists of the FN (30.93%) and the republican right (30.37 %), carried out respectively in the department by Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne and Marie Costes [ 9 ] .

2008 municipal elections [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

The 2008 municipal elections notably see the switching to the right of Agen by the election of Jean Dionis of the stay against his socialist adversary, Alain Veyret, outgoing mayor [ ten ] .
In Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Jérôme Cahuzac (PS) just like Gérard Gouzes (PS) in Marmande, retains his post as mayor [ 11 ] .

2014 municipal elections [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

During these elections, the mayor of Agen Jean Dionis of the stay is reinforced in the first round, Marmande rocks on the right (Daniel Benquet) while the passage falls to the left (Christian Garcia). Villeneuve-sur-Lot as Nérac remain socialist bastions (despite an FN thrust in Villeneuve-sur-Lot). Foulayronnes elects a MoDem mayor (Bruno Dubos) and Pujols an environmental mayor (Yvon Ventadoux).
