Alexis Gougeard , born the In Rouen, is a French cyclist specializing in time trial and endurance on track. He notably won a stage in the Tour of Spain 2015.

Youth and amateur career [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

Alexis Gougeard grew up in Grémonville [ first ] , in Seine-Maritime, about thirty kilometers from Rouen. He comes from a family of cyclists. His brother Florent also ran to Ussa Pavilly Barentin [ 2 ] And his father is a member of the supervisory board.

In 2012, Alexis Gougeard obtained seven road victories as well as two track victories. He became French champion of hopes for hopes in track cycling and also finished second in the French Hopes Road Championship, organized in La Chapelle-Caro in Morbihan. In 2014, for his first year with professionals, Alexis Gougeard won the Loire-Atlantique Classic after an escape of 180 kilometers [ 5 ] . On May 31, he was escaped from the Plumelec-Morbihan Grand Prix and was only taken up in the last two kilometers. Less than a week later, he left a group of ten runners in the Polynormande finale which he won in Saint-Martin-de-Landelles in his region of origin. He then participated in the Tour of Spain, where he signed two tops 5 of the stage. He is then part of the French selection for the online race and the time trial of the Bergen World Championships [ twelfth ] . He abandoned during the online race and ranks thirteenth of the time trial where he is the victim of a technical incident 500 meters from the finish [ 13 ] .

Its 2018 season is disappointing. It is seventh place in the time trial and the general classification of the Bessèges star, then fourth in the Tour of Andalusia. In March, he was injured at the foot and had to declare for the Flanderian classics, where he was to accompany his leader Oliver Naesen. In May, he finished fourth of the four days of Dunkirk, where he was very offensive. He is not selected on the Tour de France, after a big disappointment during the French time trial championship ( 27 It is ) [ 14 ] . In July 2018, he was selected by Cyrille Guimard to represent France at the European Road Cycling Championships [ 15 ] . He ranks 32 It is of the trial test [ 16 ] . He then participated in the Vuelta, but abandoned halfway.

After a complicated start of 2019, he returned to success in April and won solo at Mont des Avallitaux during the third stage of the Sarthe circuit [ 17 ] . While he knows a disappointing tour, Alexis Gougeard takes part in an escape during the sixteenth stage and receives the price of the combative of the day.

In 2020, he ranked fifth in the Tour Poitou-Charentes in New Aquitaine won by his compatriot Arnaud Démare.

After eight years in the same team, the French Proteam, B&B Hotels P/B KTM announced on August 31, 2021, its arrival for the seasons 2022 and 2023. Alongside its former teammates Quentin Jauregui, Cyril Gautier and Samuel Dumoulin , become sports director, he hopes to relaunch after two years without major results, and endorse more responsibilities in his new colors [ 18 ] , [ 19 ] .

For his first appearances under his new tunic, he distinguished himself in his favorite exercise, the escapes, taking the lead on the GP La Marseillaise, on the second and the fourth stage of the Bessèges star and during the last two stages of the Tour from Provence.

Following the disappearance of the B&B Hotels P/B KTM team at the end of the 2022 season, and failing to find a professional team, Alexis Gougeard finds the amateur world by signing at VC Rouen on January 17, 2023 [ 20 ] .

Alexis Gougeard is classified as a roller with aptitudes in endurance, as shown in his stage victory at the Tour of Spain 2015 [ ten ] .
