American Idol , who was named American Idol: The Search for a Superstar In the first season, is an American television program whose first episode was broadcast in June 2002. This is the adaptation of the British show Pop Idol , adapted in France under the title New star .

After a judgment in 2016, the following year, the American channel ABC announced that it will broadcast the program from 2018 ^{[ first ]} .

The show is a modern version of tele-hook, a competition where the public can vote for the person he prefers among singers, still unknown.

Some spectators would have noticed that frankly bad candidates, poor dancers and singers, would be selected to highlight the other candidates for their detriment.
