Carlo Bernini (Bondeno, 6 May 1936 – Castelfranco Veneto, January 1, 2011) was an Italian politician, fourth president of the Veneto region.

Born in the province of Ferrara, he moved with the family to Crocetta del Montello being his father Caporeparto at the Veneto Canapy [first] . Once the classic maturity at the Antonio Canova high school in Treviso is obtained, he graduated in Economics and Commerce at the “Ca ‘Foscari” University of Venice and in Political Sciences at the University of Trieste. To these academic titles he added, in 1974, the degree in law of the Northwood Institute of Middland (Michigan) [2] , in which he also appears in the gallery of those who supported the university academically and philanthropically. [3]

He was a teacher of transport economics at the Universities of Padua and Trieste. Finally he taught at the Link Campus University of Malta in Roma.

He entered the policy at a very young age of the Christian Democracy (first Fanfanian, then called by Bisaglia in the current of the Dorotei), from 1971 to 1980 President of the Province of Treviso, therefore from 1980 to 1989 President of the Veneto Region. By carrying out this assignment, he founded the Alpe Adria working community in 1978, becoming president from 1982 to 1984. From 1987 to 1989 he was also president of the Assembly of the Regions of Europe.

In 1992 he applied to the Senate for Christian democracy and was elected by holding the position of senator of the Republic until 1994.
Between 1991 and 1992, in the Andreotti VII government, he was Minister of Transport.

In 1992 he retired from politics, following the personal involvement in judicial proceedings linked to the investigation of Tangentopoli, regarding bribes received to pilot the assignment of contracts for the construction of the card motorway straps and the expansion of the A4 motorway between Venice and Padua. After a long period of inactivity, in 2003 he entered the UDC files, a party that abandoned in 2008, when he joined the people of freedoms. In October of the same year he was appointed legal councilor of the Minister for the implementation of the program Gianfranco Rotondi.

From 1972 to 1974 Bernini was administrative councilor of Alitalia, and carried out the activity of consultant on transport economics at various companies in the sector.

In the 2000s he chaired the Low Cost Airline MyAir.com. On July 21, 2009 MyAir remains on the ground with its aircraft for non -payment of taxes and airport rates, leaving many passengers without reprinting in many Italian airports and on July 23, it is seen to suspend the license by the ENAC for the serious disservices caused to passengers. In the summer of 2010 he entered a coma following a heart attack [5] . The New Year’s Eve died in Castelfranco Veneto. [7] The funeral, after the greeting in the ardent room set up in the council chamber of the Town Hall of Asolo, were celebrated at 11:00 in the morning of January 4 in the Cathedral of Asolo because, it is said, “he loved more Asolo than Rome”.
