The trucks FIAT series «Z» Or Zeta, are a very extensive range of small and medium tonnage trucks, intended for multiple uses, manufactured by the Italian manufacturer Fiat V.I. in the factories of its subsidiary OM of Brescia from 1977.
This range of vehicles will follow the “X” series, the first to unify the ranges between the different subsidiaries of the Fiat group: Fiat V.I. and OM. It will be distributed under the Unic brands in France, Magirus-Deutz in Germany and Saurer in Switzerland.
From 1987, with the arrival of Turbo engines, it will be marketed under the sole name ” Iveco turboos ».
The “Z” range, takes up most of the chassis and engines in the “X” range but benefits from completely new cabins with good comfort and excellent visibility with its immense windshield and three wipers.
Like the previous Fiat-OM range “X” Series it replaces, the “Z” range is available in many variants:
- cabin chassis;
- tray truck;
- Bench truck for construction sites;
- van;
- School bus and chassis for Mibibus.
From 1987, Fiat V.I. will endow the new Fiat-act-Teco-Turbocharged engines and will then be marketed under the “Iveco Turbozeta” label. Its great qualities and its low width will make it one of the most popular truck in its category.

From 1987, after ten years of success, the range was modernized with the generalized appearance of turbocharged motors on each model of the range. This range is still as wide and now covers the beach from six to eleven tonnes of PTC.
The very robust chassis has not been modified, only the cabin has some modifications. The round headlights have been replaced by rectangular headlights and side deflectors have been added, as on the Haute Turbostar range.
