Power Station Years is a set of songs from John Bongiovi released in different albums, under different labels (for example John Bongiovi: The Power Station Years in 1999).

Jon Bongiovi began to approach record companies in 1982 with recordings made in the studio of his cousin Tony Bongiovi, the Power Station. He was able to benefit from the premises and instruments at his disposal to record his own songs during the hours, that is to say between three in the morning and noon. However, his cousin did not like what he was doing: ” I hate your songs, I hate your voice but if I can do something to help you, tell me . ”
This is how Jon Bongiovi began as a man to do everything in the studio, cleaner and carrying cafes with the stars recording their records, like Aerosmith. “” Seeing Steven Tyler singing Cry A river is not something that I would forget anytime soon , said Jon in 1993, not yet bored by an era when he was nothing and when he rubbed shoulders with some important names. ”

Despite everything, relations between the cousins were not great, Jon having to settle for a sofa to sleep, and ” Too small to be able to extend your legs. I was hardly winning fifty dollars a week. If my cousin received girls, I slept in a storage room on the ground. I spent more than one night alone in a cinema to sleep . ”

The , Jon Bon Jovi played two of these titles at Starland Ballroom: Don’t Leave Me Tonight And Head Over Heels . The group was made up of Tony Bandiera, Kenny Aronoff, Everett Bradley, Jeff Kazee and John Conti, as well as a brass section.

Today, it is likely that all of these songs have come out under a multitude of labels, with different pockets, but with the same name: the Power Station Years . There are around twenty recordings, including an instrumental version of the first good jui tube, Runaway . As for the style, some songs are very close to the style of the first eponymous album of Bon Jovi, while others are more pop. We can however note the excellent sound quality of the whole. Despite sometimes very amateur arrangements, listening to these songs is nothing of a torture as the sound is good, because thanks to the cousin authorizing to use the studio resources at night and in the morning, Jon Bongiovi took advantage of a professional environment With advanced equipment for the time. Despite everything, he was thrown from wherever he offered his songs. It must be said that if musically, the songs stand, we feel a great naivety listening to the song as the texts are naive.

This list corresponds to all published songs, mixing all known pressings. Curiously, More Than We Bargained For was published in single in 1997 (England, Masscd 1001) and has become one of the most popular collectors of good Jovi fans. In Brazil, it is Stringin’ A Line which was sent as a single promo to the media (AMP089-2).
