This item collects the information regarding the AC Milan In the official competitions of the season 1958-1959 .
In the 1958-1959 season, the Rossoneri bench is entrusted to Luigi Bonizzoni, while Gipo Viani remains at Milan as technical director. The Trevisano will play this role until the 1964-1965 season. Palmeiras starts, the striker José Altafini arrives from Palmeiras who becomes the protagonist in his first season by scoring 28 goals, while Sandro Salvadore is aggregated by the youth team. The other reinforcement for the Rossoneri is the midfielder Vincenzo Occhetta.
In the championship, the club jumps immediately in the lead, but on the sixth day the defeat against the Lannerossi Vicenza costs the Rossoneri the first place, sold to Fiorentina. Two weeks later, on November 16, the devils conquer the field of the outgoing champions of Juventus at the end of the ninetieth minute at the end of a race ended on 4-5, and hook the viola to the top. The two teams thus create a duel that lasts until the end of the first leg ended by Milan at the top of the ranking. The primacy of the Rossoneri does not last long since a week after the two contenders are on their heads again at the same time.
The return group continues on the lines of the first with Milan and Fiorentina who compete for the first place: with the victory in the clash directed to Florence, the Rossoneri exceed the Viola, but the internal draw against Spal, a week later, frusts everything. For the turning point, one more week must be expected: on April 26, Spal always conquers Florence, while the devil equalized 3-3 against Turin last in the standings. During the race there is a fight that sent two Rossoneri players to the infirmary, but the sports judge does not assign the victory to the table to Milan who still manages to keep the point of advantage until the end.
By beating Udinese the Rossoneri 7-0 graduated champions of Italy with a round of advance detaching the Fiorentina of 3 lengths: it is the seventh national title of the Rossoneri history, the fourth since the single group .
In the Italian Cup, Milan is eliminated for the second consecutive year by Bologna, this time in the round of 16.

Italian Cup [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]
In the vintage 1958-1959 two different editions of the Italian Cup were played, which was reintroduced by the FIGC after 15 years. The 1958 Italian Cup began before the Serie A 1958-1959 began, while the Italian Cup 1958-1959 was organized during the championship. This was due to the will of UEFA to introduce a new European competition in which the winners of the national cups should have participated: the Cup Cup. The first games of the 1958 Italian Cup are therefore part of the 1957-1958 sports season.
