Born in Egypt in 1943, Fiara received the Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Cairo in 1964 and the University Master (Master of Applied Science) and the research doctorate at the University of Toronto in 1968 and 1969 respectively. All three titles achieved are in electric engineering. Fiara initially worked on the faculty of the University of Toronto in 1969 and became associated professor in 1972 and full professor in 1978. He was president of the Board of Directors of the Electric Engineering Department from 1986 to 1993 and was Rector from 1 July 1993 As of 1 July 2002. In his nine years as Rector Findo he conducted the University through two of the major long -term planning cycles in 1994 and 1998. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4On July 1, 2003, Findra is becoming of the electrical engineering faculty of the University of Waterloo and professor of electric engineering and IT engineering. In 2004, he started the University of Waterloo to the engineering planning exercise (Engineering Planning Exercise), Vision 2010. Specialist in the microelectronics, the Fiora’s research activity focuses on applications in communication and instrumentation systems, and includes the theory and project of circuits. Fiara is co -author of three textbooks, including “Circuits for microelectronics” (with K.C. Smith), now in its seventh English edition (2014). The text is published in ten languages \u200b\u200b(including Italian) and has more than one million printed copies, and is one of the most widely used microelectronics texts. Fiara published about 150 academic articles, he was a speaker of about 65 undergraduate students, and also worked as a consultant in the industry and government of Canada and the United States. Fontra was one of the founding members and a member of the Directorate of the Compormation Technology Research Center, one of the Canadian Government Scientific Research Organizations founded by the Province of Ontario (now Center of Excellence for Communications and Information Technology). From 1990 to 1994, Fiara was a member of the Scientific Assessment Panel for the Industry Research Program of Technology Ontario, and is currently a member of the Research Council of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research [2] . Fiara worked as an Oxford University Press correspondent from 1995 to 2008 and is currently writing the Oxford Electrical and Computer Engineering Series. More recently, Fiara chaired the committee that dealt with the review of the organization of the Iserc (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada). (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4Fiara has received numerous honorary degrees, including the title of PhD (Doctor of Laws) of the University of Toronto in 2005 [3] and of a doctor of Sciences (Doctor of Science) at Queen’s University in 2003 [4] and at the McGill University in 2007 [5] . Findra was elected a member of the institute of electricity and electronic engineering in 1984 [6] , of the Canadian Engineering Academy in 1999 [7] , [8] and the Royal Society of Canada in 2003 [9] [ten] . Fontra has also received numerous awards, including Frederick Ememons Term Award from the American Society for Engineering Education in 1988 [11] , la IEEE Education Medal nel 1996 [twelfth] , la IEEE Third Millennium Medal del 2000 [13] , la “Engineering Medal for Excellence” dalla Professional Engineers Ontario [14] , la “Engineering Alumni Association” [15] e la “Outstanding Service Award to the Canadian Microelectronics Industry” dall’Information Technology Association of Canada [16] . In 2002 the “Adel S. Flira Distinguished Graduate Award” was created by the Alumni Association of the University of Toronto (Utaa) to honor the Flies of the results obtained during its nine years as vice -president and principal at the University of Toronto. Every year since 2003, he has been awarded “for a graduate student who shows an exceptional academic and extra -academic leadership” [17] [18] . In 2014, he was elected a member of the Ontario Order in recognition of his “seminal work which was in a huge development in fields ranging from medical technology to wireless communications” [19] . ^ Past to Present.
