It is an old quay which bordered the right bank of the Erdre course, whose filling of a portion allowed the creation of the price of the 50-otages. It connects the Place du Cirque (at the junction with the rue de l’Arche-S\u00e8che) in Place du Pont-Morand (at the junction with rue Paul-Bellamy), and extended to the south by the alley of Orleans . It is joined, on its west side, from south to north, by rue Beaurepaire, rue de l’Arche-S\u00e8che, rue Didienne, alley of Tanneurs, rue Le N\u00f4tre and rue Mucquechien. The entire oriental side is long -term by line 2 of the Nantes tramway. The name comes from the presence of tanneries in the surrounding district.
