Applause is a song by the American singer Lady Gaga. This is the first single of his fourth studio album, Artpop . The song is written by DJ Snake, Martin Bresso, Julien Arias, Nicolas Mercier and Lady Gaga, and he is composed by DJ Snake, Guess Steve, Julien Arias, Nicolas Mercier and Lady Gaga ^{[ 2 ]} .

After several allusions made about this title since the end of 2012 ^{[ 3 ]} , the singer confirms the July 28, 2013 that Applause is the title of the first single and that it will be released August 12, 2013 , although this date had already been released a few weeks earlier by a tweet ^{[ 4 ]} . It also reveals the cover of this single, representing Gaga made up of a white powder with colored shades ^{[ 5 ]} . She declares in an interview for the American fashion magazine Women’s Wear Daily : “I want to know what you see” , when she talks about this cover ^{[ 6 ]} . Following numerous leaks on the internet, Lady Gaga decides to release the single a week before the scheduled date ^{[ 7 ]} . The title has sold no less than 5 million copies around the world.

Lady Gaga first revealed the title of the song in November 2012 Through its social networking website, declaring: ” I Live for the APPLAUSE ». She tweeta it January 4, 2013 Another part of the words: ” If only Fame came in IV form could I bare being away from you. I live for the way that you cheer and scream for me. The Applause ».

The July 24, 2013 , Tara Savelo, makeup artist and accomplice of the singer, posta via the Littlemonsters.com website, a photograph of Lady Gaga hiding a canvas on which seems to hold the single. Above this representation is the word “ APPLAUSE ”And in a much smaller writing, a signature made by Lady Gaga with the release date of the single – the August 19, 2013 . Later, Gaga still posts via Littlemonsters.com of the lyrics written by hand with a visual of the song. The lyrics were slightly altered from the first version which was revealed a year earlier.

The July 28, 2013 , Lady Gaga resumed her Twitter account to announce that because of a “too strong anticipation”, the pre-order of ARTPOP was advanced at August 19 , and adding that his single, Applause would also come out on the same day. This has therefore confirmed all speculation that it would be the first single. The illustration for the single was unveiled the same day on the website of Women’s Wear Daily . This was carried out by Inez & Vinoodh, who designed the promo photos and the video clip of Applause .

The first public interpretation of the song takes place during the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 ceremony, the August 25, 2013 in Brooklyn. It also gives a concert as part of the iTunes Festival Le first ^is September 2013 in London where she interpreted the first single Applause With new titles from the album.
