Artur Brauner ,, that Atze brown , neither Abraham Brauner the in łódź (Kingdom of Poland) and died the in Berlin (Germany) [ first ] , is a German producer of Polish origin, founder of the production company CCC-Film. He produced more than 300 films, including several great successes devoted to the memory of the Shoah, as Europa, Europa Agnieszka Holland, but also the German western series on the Amerindian hero Winnetou.

Son of Moshe and Brana Brauner, Abraham Brauner was born on 1 is August 1918 in łódź within a Jewish family. His father was a wooden wholesaler. Brauner attended a general education high school in łódź, where he obtained his baccalaureate and adopted the first name Artur, then studied in the Polytechnic School until the German attack against Poland in September 1939. With his parents and His four brothers and sisters, he fled to the Soviet Union and survived the Shoah. After the war, he and his brother, Wolf Brauner, emigrated to Western Berlin under American control, his parents and three of his brothers and sisters emigrate to Israel. Out of 49 of his relatives who died in the hands of the Nazis, 12 were killed in the Ravine of Babi Yar in Ukraine.

Artur Brauner had been married since 1947 to Theresa Albert (nicknamed Maria) and they had four children together.

While he was still a young man, he saw Dr Mabuse’s will From Fritz Lang to the cinema, a film that impressed him a lot, growing his emerging interest in cinema. In September 1946, he founded the central production company Cinema Company or CCC-Films. He produced Say the truth (of) , one of the first films produced in post-war Germany, followed by Directory a commercial failure that has in debt. Brauner realized that to produce films that could claim a critical success, he had to compensate for the losses by producing unclear films, but to the general public. He has by his activity and his successes brought back many Germans who had exiled to Hollywood in the USA, such as Robert Siodmak and later Fritz Lang, who initiated the renewal of Dr. Mabuse.

In 2009, Yad Vashem received a donation from 21 brauner productions relating to the Shoah, of which the White Rose , July 20 (film on the assassination of Adolf Hitler, Walkyria operation ), as well as Man and Beast ( Man and beast ). In 2010, Yad Vashem opened a press center in the name of Brauner. Artur Brauner called him “supreme realization of my film career”.

Artur Brauner was an eminent member of the Jewish community in Berlin, where he died on July 7, 2019.
