Chenu was born in Briançon to a master tailor at the 6 It is line regiment [ 2 ] . His family is not of a very artistic environment. Augustin Chenu is mainly known for his paintings representing scenes of hunting as well as paintings centered on nature without human presence, such as the famous “snow effects” (variations of campaign paintings, wild paths, forests in snow times), which earned him the name of “snow painter” [ 3 ] .
