Backlash 2018 – Wikipedia

Backlash 2018 It was the fourteenth edition of the homonymous Pay-Per-PEW event produced annually by the WWE. The event took place on May 6, 2018 at the Newark Prudential Center (New Jersey).

It was the first pay-per-view of the second Brand Extension to roster united by Battleground 2016 .

In 2019, Backlash was replaced by Stomping Grounds, but then was reinstated in 2020.

On April 8, in Wrestlemania 34, Brock Lesnar successfully defended the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. ^[first] The next evening, a Raw , Reigns’ promo on his defeat in Wrestlemania was interrupted by the return Samoa Joe, who challenged Reigns for Backlash (despite then Joe was moved to SmackDown because of the Shake-up ). ^[2]

In Wrestlemania 34, Charlotte Flair successfully defended the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Asuka, thus ending the latter’s unbeatability strip.
