Benjamin Chevillon is a French disabled sportsman, born on in Saint-Pol-sur-Mer (North). He is known for his various participations in international competition in Basketball Chair, for his involvement in the political and associative world to best defend the interests of people with a handicap, and for his expertise on Google advertising.

He really started his career as a basketball player armchair in 2005, at the JDA Dijon Basket, the current professional basketball club in the city of Dijon. Its progression and determination allow it to quickly integrate the collective, but above all to be called into the French Hopes team (under 22 years old) two years later, in 2007.

But Benjamin Chevillon’s first passion was music. Indeed, he took battery lessons for six years at the famous Music School Tony Fallone. This group has a composition to its credit “Renaissance”, which met with a great success with the Dijon youth.

Benjamin Chevillon and also very committed to asserting the interests of disabled people. Thus in 2008, he campaigned with François-Xavier Dugourd with the UMP list during the municipal elections in Dijon. Benjamin is also engaged in associative life by being a member of the associations “of traffic jams for the disabled in Côte-d’Or” and “La Vie”.

Benjamin was in 2009 studying in the second year at the UFR Staps at Lille II University. He prepares a sports management license there, in the future, to work in the field of management linked to sport.

In 1995, Benjamin was suffering from leukemia, it earned him more than a year of hospitalization at the Dijon regional hospital center. To defeat the disease, doctors have used chemotherapy. After long months of treatment, Benjamin was healed, but he made a bad reaction to this powerful treatment and was suffering from paraplegia in a few weeks. He and his family had to organize their lives around and according to his disability.

He began in 2000, to take lessons to play his favorite instrument: the battery. It was at the famous music school “Tony Fallone” that he took lessons for six years.

He met Louis Godart in 2003, to be part of the interference group for 3 years. The group recorded its one and only “Renaissance” composition. Composed of Clément Rezzonico (guitarist), Louis Godart (singer/guitarist), Mélanie Fiore (singer) and Pierre-Etienne Durand (bassist), and Xavier Delcroix (manager) This small group of pop gradually won a recognized notoriety. His best year was 2006 with several concerts, including a very big success during the Fête de la Musique, as well as for a concert on July 14.

He began in 2005, the practice of Basketball armchair at JDA Dijon Basket. This discipline discovered by chance became the new passion and the new spearhead of Benjamin. He quickly joined the Dijon collective, and played his first match against the Toulouse Invalides Club, in the French first division. In 2007, he was spotted by the coach of the French Hopes team, Bernard Ganser. He did his first selection internship in February 2007 and left Club France from this date. He participated in July in a European tournament in Belgium by finishing in third place.

In 2008, he was appointed captain of the French Hopes team and participated in his first major international competition during the European Hopes Championship in July in Adana in Turkey. This tournament was very difficult for the French because they finished in fifth place. He also flew to the United States to do an internship with the University team of the University of Alabama, in order to follow a course while practicing basketball. But his scholarship request was not granted and that forced him to return prematurely to France.

He also engaged in political life by being a running mate alongside the UMP candidate François-Xavier Dugourd, during the municipal elections in Dijon in March.

In 2009, he received his first distinction as a sportsman, receiving the medal from the city of Dijon during the “Night of Sport” in February. He participated in his first world championships, organized in Paris in July, which allowed him to rub shoulders with the elite of basketball chair of his generation, but also to meet M me Rama Yade, current secretary of state responsible for sport.
