Biellese room ( Living room O Sala ‘d white in Piedmontese) is an Italian town of 570 inhabitants of the province of Biella in Piedmont.
Together with that of Zubiena, the municipal area of Sala Biellese is located in the north-eastern band of the Morenico d’Ivrea amphitheater, which is generally considered part of the Biellese instead of the Canavese. Sala Biellese is located along the Morenico slope at 625 m a.s.l.m. At the foot of the Biellese Alps and on the border of the “Serra d’Ivrea” Community interest site affected by Slow’s excursion.

In 1896, the textors of the room, in an era in which hand weaving was still the traditional activity of the country, exercised above all by women, rose against the demand of the government to subject their taxation activity, as if it were An industrial activity.
The revolt broke out, known as The revolt of the textbooks , the carabinieri fire on the crowd, killing four people. The managers of the revolt were later tried, but were acquitted. [4] .

During the Resistance, the inhabitants of the territory of the Morenica Serra and the partisans who were fighting there gave birth to an important network of social collaboration, which left deep traces on the territory between Sala and Torrazzo and which binds these places to each other emblematic to others of the partisan resistance and liberation. It was no coincidence that it was here that it was transmitted Radio Libertà .

The patronal feast, in August, is dedicated to the Madonna della Neve in the hamlet of Bornasco, for the capital the patron saint is San Martino (11 November).

The non -profit organization is located in Sala Biellese Refuge of the donkeys , the only official Italian refuge for mistreated donkeys that belongs to the international The Donkey Sanctuary. The refuge, founded in 2006 but open to the public since August 2009, in 2013 hosted 172 equines and between 2009 and 2013 had been visited 60,000 times, with 5500 access to children by children. [7]
In November 2021, the refuge housed 125 donkeys, mules and bards. [8]

The Museum of Resistance is located in Sala Biellese, in via Ottavio Rivetti, 5 which is part of the Elvo and Serra Valley Ecomuseum. In it, various documentary and iconographic materials collected in the area by historians and protagonists of the partisan events are preserved. The exhibition is curated by Elio Parliament, a partisan name “Varzi”. The museum adheres to the “Museum Network Ami” project [9] For the cultural enhancement and the museum promotion of the area of the Morenico d’Ivrea amphitheater.

Starting from 14 December 1944 he worked in the Biellese Radio Libertà , which turns out to have been the only radio station addressed to the public, and which therefore had a function not directly military, managed by the partisans during the resistance.
The first broadcasts took place from Callabiana, and continued for several evenings, but in January 1945 due to the increased enemy threat, the radio was dismantled and transferred to Sala Biellese, from where he resumed to transmit after a few weeks continuing his business even in addition to the 25 April.
