Bjarne Lykkegård Riis (Herning, April 3, 1964) is a former road cyclist, Pistard and Danish sports manager.
Professional from 1986 to 1999, he won the Tour de France 1996,
AmStel Gold Race 1997 and several stages of the Giro d’Italia. From 2000 to 2015 he was Team Manager and sports director of the CSC/Saxo/Tinkoff cycling team.
He made his debut among the professionals in 1986. In the two-year period 1994-1995 he ran between the rows of the discussed Italian team Gewiss-Ballan: in the first year, according to Dr. Messini D’Agostini (one of the magistrates in the process that involved the doctor Francesco Conconi), Riis used to have non -natural variations of hematocrits over 20%. After his retirement from professional cycling, he became sports director in August at the Memory Card-Jack & Jones for stages.
