The Canton of Tour-d’Auvergne is a former French administrative division located in the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne region. It was deleted in 2015 following the redistribution of the cantons of the department; Its 8 municipalities have joined the canton of Sancy.
This canton is organized around the Tour-d’Auvergne in the district of Issoire. His altitude varies from 594 m (Trémouille-Saint-Loup) at 1,883 m (Chastreix) for an average altitude of 990 m .
From 1833 to 1848, the Tuvenue and La Tour-d’Auvergne cantons had the same general councilor. The number of general councilors was limited to 30 per department [ first ] .
The rediscups of the districts taken place in 1926 and 1942 did not affect the canton of La Tour-d’Auvergne.
The canton was removed following the redistribution of the cantons of the department, applied on February 25, 2014 by decree: the 8 municipalities will integrate the canton of Sancy [ 2 ] .
