Carly Rae Jepsen , born In Mission (British Columbia), is a Canadian singer-songwriter [ first ] . In 2007, she finished in third place in the fifth season of the show Canadian Idol . Shortly after her participation in the show, she released her first album, Tug of War , with the record company Maplemusic Recordings, on September 30, 2008. Three years later, she released the single Call Me Maybe , with the record company 604 records, before released his first EP, entitled Curiosity , on February 14, 2012. In February 2012, Canadian singer Justin Bieber presented the young woman to his artistic agent Scooter Braun, who made him sign a contract with his School Boy Records record company. Thanks to the popularity of its single Call Me Maybe , Carly was able to sign a contract with the International Disques Interscope Records. Born in Mission, British Columbia, Canada, Carly is the daughter of Alexandra and Larry Jepsen [ 3 ] . She has a sister, named Katie, and a brother, named Colin [ 4 ] . His parents are divorced ; She has a stepfather, named Ron Lanzarotta [ 5 ] . She graduated from the Lycée Heritage Park Secondary School of mission. She then joined the Canadian College of Performing Arts University in Victoria, before participating in the program Canadian Idol .

After his participation in Canadian Idol , Carly returned to British Columbia, in order to focus on writing, composition and work in a musical group. The models she recorded drew the attention of record companies, Simkin Artist Management and Dexter Entertainment, which allowed her to work with producer Ryan Stewart. The founder of the Simkin Artist Management label, Jonathan Simkin, is also the co -founder of the record company 604 Records, in Vancouver. She subsequently signed a contract with 604 records and Maplemusic Recordings [ 6 ] . In order to devote herself to her musical career, Carly settled in Vancouver [ 7 ] .

Josh Ramsay also helped produce the song Call Me Maybe . All video clips are made by Ben Knechtel. During the spring of 2009, she went on tour throughout western Canada with Marianas Trench and Shiloh [ 9 ] . A new single, Call Me Maybe , released on September 20, 2011. Produced by Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench and co -written by Jepsen, Ramsay and Tavish Crowe, Call Me Maybe is the first single to be number one of digital sales by a Canadian artist since Baby by Justin Bieber in January 2010. It is also 11 It is Song to be number one from Digital Songs since the creation of this ranking by the Nielsen Soundscan Institute in 2005.
