Carly Rae Jepsen , born In Mission (British Columbia), is a Canadian singer-songwriter [ first ] . In 2007, she finished in third place in the fifth season of the show Canadian Idol . Shortly after her participation in the show, she released her first album, Tug of War , with the record company Maplemusic Recordings, on September 30, 2008. Three years later, she released the single Call Me Maybe , with the record company 604 records, before released his first EP, entitled Curiosity , on February 14, 2012. In February 2012, Canadian singer Justin Bieber presented the young woman to his artistic agent Scooter Braun, who made him sign a contract with his School Boy Records record company. Thanks to the popularity of its single Call Me Maybe , Carly was able to sign a contract with the International Disques Interscope Records. The single was at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and the Canadian Hot 100, as well as in the charts of nineteen other countries. On March 2, 2015, she released the single I Really Like You .
Carly received around 30 nominations of which she won ten, including three nominations for the Juno Awards, and two nominations for the Grammy Awards. She was also elected the “2012 star of 2012” by the magazine Billboard [ 2 ] .
His childhood and his beginnings [ modifier | Modifier and code ]
Born in Mission, British Columbia, Canada, Carly is the daughter of Alexandra and Larry Jepsen [ 3 ] . She has a sister, named Katie, and a brother, named Colin [ 4 ] . His parents are divorced ; She has a stepfather, named Ron Lanzarotta [ 5 ] . She graduated from the Lycée Heritage Park Secondary School of mission. She then joined the Canadian College of Performing Arts University in Victoria, before participating in the program Canadian Idol .
After his participation in Canadian Idol , Carly returned to British Columbia, in order to focus on writing, composition and work in a musical group. The models she recorded drew the attention of record companies, Simkin Artist Management and Dexter Entertainment, which allowed her to work with producer Ryan Stewart. The founder of the Simkin Artist Management label, Jonathan Simkin, is also the co -founder of the record company 604 Records, in Vancouver. She subsequently signed a contract with 604 records and Maplemusic Recordings [ 6 ] . In order to devote herself to her musical career, Carly settled in Vancouver [ 7 ] .
2008-2010: Tug of War [ modifier | Modifier and code ]
On June 16, 2008, Carly released his first single, a cover of the American singer John Denver Sunshine On My Shoulders . It is his only song that is taken up of his first studio album [ 8 ] . On July 21, 2008, Tug of War added two songs from his first studio album, Bucket And Heavy Lifting On his MySpace page. In August 2008, Carly Rae Jepsen announced on her MySpace page that the title of her album is called Tug of War and released on September 30, 2008. She adds two other songs to her page Tug of War And Sweet Talker . The song Tug of War Sortes as a single on the iTunes platform on September 16, 2008. In May 2009, his second single released Bucket and the video of Sour Candy In duet with Josh Ramsay of the Canadian Group of Pop Rock Marianas Trench. Josh Ramsay also helped produce the song Call Me Maybe . All video clips are made by Ben Knechtel. During the spring of 2009, she went on tour throughout western Canada with Marianas Trench and Shiloh [ 9 ] . She then sets out on tour throughout the country with Marianas Trench, The New Cities and with Mission District.
2011-2013: Curiosity And Kiss [ modifier | Modifier and code ]
A new single, Call Me Maybe , released on September 20, 2011. Produced by Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench and co -written by Jepsen, Ramsay and Tavish Crowe, Call Me Maybe is the first single to be number one of digital sales by a Canadian artist since Baby by Justin Bieber in January 2010. It is also 11 It is Song to be number one from Digital Songs since the creation of this ranking by the Nielsen Soundscan Institute in 2005. The song is number one in the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 ranking, becoming 4 It is Canadian artist to access this rank following April Lavigne for Girlfriend , Nikki Yanofsky with I Believe and Young Artists for Haiti with the resumption of Wavin ‘flag Canadian rapper K’naan [ ten ] .
In February 2012, she signed for the School Boy Records label with the manager of Justin Bieber, scooter Braun [ 11 ] . His first maximum, Curiosity , released on February 14, 2012. It is produced by Josh Ramsay and Ryan Stewart. At the same time, a parody of the clip Call Me Maybe is broadcast on the internet, where Ashley Tisdale, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and the Big Time Rush group appear.

In October, Carly Rae Jepsen released her 6th album (5th if you don’t count Dedicated Side B), named “The Loneliest Time”.
In July 2012, Carly put an end to her relationship with her companion Jordi Ashworth, which she had frequented for more than a year [ 16 ] , [ 17 ] , [ 18 ] . She composed the song Call Me Maybe For this one, when they were still together [ 19 ] .
From August 2012 to January 2015, she was the partner of the American musician Matthew Koma [ 20 ] , [ 21 ] , [ 22 ] .
Since February 2015, Carly Rae Jepsen has been in a relationship with David Kalani Larkins, former member of the Forgive Durden group (in) [ 23 ] .
