The Castello Gamba (previously known as castello baron Gamba ) is a building of twentieth -century origin in the municipality of Châtillon that stands on a hill in the western part of the town, in the locality Cre-de-Breil , near the regional hotel school, and is completely surrounded by a park open to the public all year round. [first]

The castle, with a sober style that imitates a period construction, has a compact, almost cubic structure, with a massive and square central tower. It has at least 4 floors. Next to the castle stands another service building that develops north in two parallel bodies connected by once to cover a courtyard.

It is clearly visible from the A5 motorway. The southern side of the castle overflows on the Dora Baltea. [first]

The castle is a “building in manner”, built in 1911 on a project by the engineer Carlo Saroldi and at the behest of the Baron Charles-Maurice Gamba, owner of the castle and bridegroom of Angélique d’Entrèves, daughter of Count Christin of Entrèves.

On June 18, 2008, over 4000 spectators gathered in the park for the last concert in Italy held by Bob Dylan. [2]

The castle, in restoration between 2011 and 2012, was reopened at the end of October 2012, presenting the new museum setting to the public of what intends to become a regional center of modern art. From its reopening the official name has become Castello Gamba .

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art that is based in the Castello Gamba is a cultural center, a place of temporary exhibitions and above all the seat of the regional art gallery. The opening to the public of the castle wanted by the Municipality of Châtillon and the regional councilorship for culture took place on 27 October 2012.
