Checco during , at the registry office Francesco during , (Rome, November 19, 1893 – Rome, January 5, 1976), was an Italian actor and poet.
Popular Roman actor and poet, he played with frankness and bonomy a certain Roman character. Husband of the actress Anita Durante, he had two daughters, both actresses: Leila and Luciana. The latter is the wife of the actor Marcello Pando and mother of the voice actor Francesco.

Born in Rome in 1893 in via dei Salumi, in the Trastevere district, while he was employed at a wholesale sales company of fabrics, he began to recite in a philodramatic, where he met his future wife Anita. Subsequently, in 1918, he entered together with Anita, in the company of the great Ettore Petrolini, [first] together with which the comedy wrote One-hundred of these days (1921). Among the best known titles can be remembered: Rome at 11 am 1952, Polycarpo, writing officer of 1959, Straziamami but of kisses saziami of 1968, On the day of the Lord of 1970, In the name of the Italian people of 1971.

In the sixties some comedies in dialect were broadcast on television by Rai. He also recited in the television script Gian Burrasca’s newspaper , starring Rita Pavone, aired in eight episodes in 1964-65 and replied in the following years.

He also participated in numerous radio programs of the local broadcaster Radio Roma, such as Radio Campidoglio It is Field of flowers .

He died in the hometown, at eighty -two years old, the eve of the 1976 Epiphany. On 28 December 1975 he had starred for the last time in The discovery of America by Alberto Retti, alongside Nello Gambini. [6]

Checco Durante was buried at the Verano cemetery of Rome, together with his wife, son -in -law and both disappeared daughters in 2014. [7]
