Two 7.62 mm machine guns of NATO are also installed in the turret, including a coaxial with the main weapon. Five loopholes, two on each side and one at the rear, allow the troops inside to use their personal weapons, if necessary. The integrated shooting system supplied by Hitfist Galileo Avionica is capable of measuring the speed and distance of the target. The captain has six episcopes, offering 360 \u00b0 field of vision. The dome can also be equipped with a stabilized panoramic view. In addition, a laser rangefinder and a thermal imaging are provided for the gunner. The commander has a monitor reproducing the view of the gunner’s night vision system. To deal with the threats of heavy armored vehicles, two anti -tank missiles can be installed on both sides of the turret with a maximum range of 4 km . Protection [ modifier | Modifier and code ] The welded shell is built in aluminum alloy, with steel armor plates for increased protection. Front shield protects the vehicle against 25 mm ADS projectiles. The lateral shielding protects against the 14.5 mm API projectiles. Four 80 mm smoke grenade launcher are installed on each side of the turret, for a total of eight. The ZF Friedrichshafen automatic transmission, made under license by Iveco Fiat has four front speeds and two in reverse, and incorporates the steering system and the hydraulic brake. The rolling gear is made up of six rubberized wheels on each side, with three return rolls and connector -type tracks. The suspension consists of a torsion bar, with a bumper and a hydraulic shock absorber on each suspension arm. Braking is ensured by disc brakes on each of the motor wheels, controlled by a transmission retarder. The whole allows the Dardo to exceed the 70  km\/h , to cross slopes at more than 60 \u00b0 and to cross water bodies up to 1.5 m deep.
